In this research my aim is to examine the discursive and visual strategies employed by the Greek and British media in order to scrutinize how the refugee crisis was represented and portrayed. The potential of the project, however, is not descriptive but it aims to critically unfold the available discourses and visual materials provided by the media and examine how specific foreclosures and exclusions of narratives may constrain or prohibit the possibility for the spectator to feel ethically responsible to respond to the pain of the ‘’other’’ that in my research is ‘’the refugee’’.
