Pursuing an external PhD can be a solitary and financially challenging time of your life. The event How To Survive Your External PhD: Job Opportunities is tailor-made for external PhD candidates who might be grappling with job prospects or struggling to stay motivated while juggling a PhD and a career. Join us for a candid discussion where we’ll share best practices for maintaining financial stability, achieving a healthy work-life balance, and staying motivated throughout your journey.
Three panelists, Dick van Broekhuizen, Esther Edelmann and Franziska Westhäuser, all well-versed in surviving or having survived their external PhD, will share tips on getting (teaching) jobs and discovering for themselves what the best route is to personal success. There will be plenty of opportunities for attendees to share their own troubles and get feedback from peers facing similar situations.
Regular PhD candidates or junior researcher are most welcome to join as well and learn a thing or two from their colleagues regarding strict time management, transferable skills, and much more.
