Luna Hupperetz is a PhD candidate in the AHM and ASCA research initiative on “critical audiovisual heritage.” Her research is situated around the question: What archival infrastructure does justice to the remediation of anti-colonial and unfinished audiovisual artifacts? As a film curator interested in activist documentary cinema, she has been involved in restoring and researching the recently restored anti-colonial film Oema foe Sranan (Women of Suriname, 1978). In light of this restoration, she co-directed and produced the short film A Battle Restored (2022). In her PhD research, she is shifting the focus from the finished film Oema foe Sranan and the unfinished precursor film triptych Unknown Suriname, of which the 52 film cans of rushes are currently being digitized and identified in collaboration with former LOSON activists.
